A simple app that tests your functional capacity by performing a 6 min walk test

The 6 Minute Walk Test is a scientifically-proven test of your functional capacity.

The six minute walking test provides an indication of your aerobic activity, aerobic capacity, exercise tolerance, fitness, submaximal exercise capacity and degree of physical activity and is a valuable test for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular disease, congestive heart failure (CHF) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

The test is simple: You input your details and walk for 6 minutes outdoors. You are required to complete a 6-minute endurance walk test, walking as hard as possible in six minutes to cover as much distance as possible in this time. Once the test has finished, the app calculates the distance that you covered over 6 minutes and works out your overall level of fitness based on your gender, age, height and weight.

If you fail to meet your recommended functional capacity, the app will advise you on a course of action in order to improve your results and overall quality of life. You can take the test as many times as you like and the last 10 results are saved in your History for reference.

Make sure you take the test outdoors. The distance calculator is based on GPS technology. This technology was chosen because it's the most accurate and precise when it comes to measuring the distance. It also means that if you don't have a strong GPS signal or if you walk indoors to take the test, the distance calculator might not work.

This Functional Capacity Test is also known as: six (6) minute walking test, 6MWT, Six-minute walk distance, 6MWD, 6-minute walk test and 6-minute step test.
